May Day Significantly Marked in DPRK

Working people across the DPRK commemorated May Day, the international holiday of the working people of the whole world.

An endless stream of people visited the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme temple of Juche where the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are laid in state.

They paid noble respects to the great leaders, looking up at their smiling portraits.

Officials and working people laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the bronze statues and smiling portraits of the great leaders on Mansu Hill and in all other parts of the country and paid a tribute to them.

Officials of the Party and power organs in provinces significantly commemorated May Day together with working people.

Colourful sports and amusement games took place at the Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Jenam Coal Mine, the Unjong Vegetable Cooperative Farm in Kanggye City and other industrial establishments and cooperative farms throughout the country.

A riding contest was held amid the concern of working people in Hamhung City, adding to the festive mood.

Colourful performances were given at theatres and outdoors in the capital city Pyongyang to encourage the working people.

Similar performances were given in North and South Hwanghae and Jagang Provinces and Kaesong City to commemorate the holiday conspicuously.
