A strategic cruise missile-launching drill was conducted on the early morning of February 23.
A firepower subunit concerned of a strategic cruise missile unit of the Korean People’s Army in the eastern area was mobilized for the drill and other subunits conducted firepower training in the mine positions without live shell firing.
The subunit involved in the launching drill launched four “Hwasal-2” strategic cruise missiles to the East Sea of Korea from the area of Kim Chaek City in North Hamgyong Province.
Through the launching drill, the reliability of the weapon system was reconfirmed and the rapid reaction of the strategic cruise missile units, one of the important components of the nuclear deterrent forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, inspected and judged.
The launching drill attained its aim with success.
The launched four strategic cruise missiles made a flight of the oval and “8”-figure path simulating the distance of 2,000 kilometres set on the East Sea of Korea for 10,208 to 10,224 seconds before hitting the target.
The Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea expressed great satisfaction at the result of the launching drill.
The nuclear combat forces of the DPRK are strengthening their ability of fatal nuclear counterattack on the hostile forces in every way and their preparations for action were clearly demonstrated once again.
