Kim Sol Hyang in her 30s is a worker of the Taesong Trade Guidance Bureau.
She had her only son. But she had many children from last year.
In June last year, the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The meeting discussed an issue on improving and strengthening the childcare policy.
Upon the news, Kim Sol Hyang was determined to contribute even a little to implementing the childcare policy of the Party.
So she called at the Pyongyang Orphanage together with her son attending a primary school.
She was greatly surprised to see the excellent conditions and environment of the orphanage.
“When I visited the orphanage, I was very surprised. The children were wearing quality clothes and beautiful ribbons. They were all smart and chubby. Who would think that they are orphans?!”
Since then she has been calling on the children on their birthdays every month as well as on holidays and shown her sincerity to them. That is why the children call her mother without reserve.
In the course, Kim Sol Hyang got intimate with many people who had volunteered to look after the children.
Of course, the children are leading a happy life thanks to the state benefits. But Kim Sol Hyang and other women wanted to do something helpful for the coming generations.
