Ullim Falls is situated between Poptong and Chonnae counties in Kangwon Provice of the DPRK, about 30 kilometers west of Wonsan City. It is called Ullim because its noise resounds very far away, with magnificent scenery in harmony with its surrounding forests and peculiar cliffs. The waterfall itself is 75 meters high and the pool beneath it is 1.5 meters deep. In 2001 a cultural recreation resort was built at the spot by the People’s Army with a tea shop, observatory, and pavilion. Its surrounding environment has been admirably preserved by the state.
