The Mirim Aviation Club in Pyongyang was completed in July 2016. The club is a very popular spot for pleasure flights, with foreign guests enjoying bird’s-eye views of the city. Almost all the pilots are young people in their 20s, and friendly visitors always leave impressed. The club uses microlights developed and manufactured in the DPRK, most notable the Kkulbol (Bee) which can carry two people at a maximum speed of 80kmh. One can fly as far west as Nampo, and visiting foreign pilots can choose to fly solo across the blue skies of People’s Korea.
