General Secretary Kim Jong Un Guides 2nd Enlarged Meeting of 8th Central Military Commission of WPK

The Second Enlarged Meeting of the Eighth Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held in the headquarters building of the Party Central Committee on June 11.

It was guided by the respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Present at the meeting were members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, commanders of the services and corps of the Korean People’s Army, executive committeemen of the Party Committee of the People’s Army and members of departments concerned of the Party Central Committee.

The meeting presented important tasks to further enhance the fighting efficiency of the revolutionary armed forces and bring about a fresh turn in the whole work of national defence according to the demand of the recent rapidly-changing situation around the Korean peninsula and the internal and external surroundings of the Korean revolution, and discussed an organizational issue.

At the meeting Kim Jong Un analyzed the prevailing situation and the work of the People’s Army and put forward the strategic tasks for the People’s Army to be held fast to permanently and the ways to strengthen and develop the revolutionary armed forces.

He stressed that the People’s Army should perfectly and resolutely implement the Party’s lines and policies on army building and thoroughly maintain high alertness in order to firmly defend the sovereignty and security of the country and perform its sacred mission and duty of safeguarding the Party and the revolutionary work, the interests of the state and the people, and the socialist construction.

The meeting dealt with an organizational issue on dismissing and transferring some commanders of services and corps and appointing new ones.
