Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, made a field survey of different units in South and North Hamgyong Provinces.
Learning about the situation of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, he encouraged the workers in their efforts to hit the goal of iron and steel production put forward by the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea. He stressed the need to direct efforts to the construction of new energy-saving iron blast furnace, increase the rate of operation of equipment and perfect the concentrated ore transport system.
Looking round the Chongjin Steel Works, he mentioned the need to definitely increase the production by rebuilding the existing production processes with advanced technology according to the plan for readjustment and development of the key industrial sectors put forward in the Party Congress and fully supplying raw and other materials.
At the Musan Mining Complex, he underscored the need to continuously strengthen the material and technical foundation in line with the stepwise goals and plans for realizing the economic strategy of the WPK so as to activate iron ore production.
Looking round the Ranam Coal-Mining Machine Complex and the Hoeryong Coal-Mining Machine Factory, he discussed the practical issues for developing and producing modern coal-mining machines on the basis of the plan for development of engineering industry during the period of the new 5-year plan.
Discussed at the consultative meetings were the measures to increase the capacity of Juche iron production and use the brown coal in the northern area of Korea for pig iron production. The meetings also organized in detail the work for those units concerned to responsibly supply equipment and materials and fully produce and supply iron and steel needed for the building of 10,000 flats in Pyongyang City.
Meanwhile, Kim Tok Hun learned about the current farming at different farms of Tanchon City, Hoeryong City, Hongwon, Pukchong, Kumya and Kowon Counties and took relevant measures.
