The Kosan Fruit Processing Factory under the Kosan Combined Fruit Farm went into operation in October last year in the run-up to the 75th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is located at the foot of Chol Pass in Kangwon Province.
It has a fruit depot with a capacity of thousands of tons and an advanced infrastructure of water and electricity supply systems. For its vantage point between the central and eastern parts of the country, it has a very favourable condition to transport fruits and processed goods to the consuming areas.
After its inauguration, it produced such processed goods as juice, fermented fruit vinegar and dried fruit chips with the delicious fruits of the farm as raw materials.
Its officials, technicians and employees are directing primary efforts to developing new products as required by the people.
They developed apple-seed oil and a wine and succeeded in raising the actual extraction rate of fruit concentrates by means of a domestically-produced additive, instead of using an imported one.
Based on the researches into the developing trend of processed fruit goods and the analysis of domestic demands for the goods, they are making efforts to improve their taste while reducing the production costs markedly.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of its employees to implement the tasks set forth at the 8th Congress of the WPK and the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK, the output of processed fruit goods is increasing.
