Ryongwang Pavilion stands in the center of the Taesongsan Pleasure Ground about 12km northeast of Pyongyang. Once used as the front gate to the fort on Mt Taesong, it was built in 427 before the capital of Koguryo was moved to Pyongyang. It was restored by the state in 1978. Every May Day and other major holidays celebrated in the DPRK, the pavilion is used as a venue for international joint celebrations, concerts, and folk and sports games.
