Sindo County, North Phyongan Province, where reed harvest is in full swing, is expected to produce over 10,000 tons more reeds than the same period of last year.
It reinforced the embankment for over 100 kilometers of reed fields damaged by storms and finished the cleaning of waterways and built, reconstructed, and repaired pumping stations to carry out irrigations of the reed fields.
In order to establish the irrigation system, it also pushed ahead with a big way waterway and reservoir construction project to provide favourable conditions for reed growth.
As a result, it produced over 15 tons of reeds per hectare, reaping a good harvest in thousands of hectares of its fields. Sindo County is now making good arrangements for finishing the cutting of reeds and binding them into sheaves during its 80-day campaign.
