Dignified Group of Researchers

The Machine Designing Institute of the Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering is a dignified group of researchers that achieved many successes in localizing all kinds of advanced production equipment badly needed for the development of the industry of the country in the past.

It played a pivotal role in inventing and manufacturing a lot of machinery and equipment of great significance in the economic development of the country and establishing the robotized production processes at different units. In those days researchers of the institute had to manufacture unfamiliar equipment of which they had no elementary technical data as it was the monopoly of some countries. They also had to start with a photo to establish modern production processes. But they were successful in doing such a job.

Last year, the institute carried out a number of research projects of national significance, making a contribution to production and modernization of many units.

Here is Doctor and Associate Professor Choe Tong Il, Director of the Institute.

“Now that we are launching the 80-day campaign, we, scientists, are replete with a resolve to do something more than before. How to greet the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea is entirely up to our spiritual strength, I think.

With one mind and purpose, we will make efforts to successfully greet the Eighth Party Congress with clear results for the development of the machine industry of the country.”

Most of the researchers at the Machine Designing Institute are in their 20s and 30s. It is their goal to become a group of good machine designers as soon as possible.
