In February Juche 103 (2014) Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited the baby home and orphanage in Pyongyang and instructed the accompanying officials to build a new baby home and orphanage on the picturesque bank of the Taedong River. He also underscored the need to build new baby homes and orphanages in all provinces and municipalities as required by the new century.
True to his instruction, a cosy and unique baby home and orphanage were built in Wonsan, Kangwon Province, adding more beauty to the seascape.
They are fully provided with conditions and environment necessary for nursing and educating children, including a general playroom, reading room, nature study room, intelligent game, wading pool, clinic, etc.
On June 1, Juche 104 (2015), Kim Jong Un visited the baby home and orphanage just prior to inauguration. Looking round the buildings with satisfaction, he said that it would be good for children to cut the red ribbons in their inaugural ceremonies as it would make them remember the day even after they were grown-ups.
As a result, the children cut the ribbons before entering their new homes.
