In February Juche 105 (2016), the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea launched the earth observation satellite “Kwangmyongsong-4” with success. It was the fourth satellite the DPRK has put into the outer space totally with its strength, technology and wisdom.
It makes us feel the immense power of the country and a pride of the Korean nation.
The DPRK has made an amazing leap forward to a space power from a young space developer.
In the wake of two rounds of satellite test-firing, it succeeded in launching an earth observation satellite and made a rapid progress from the launch of satellite along the inclined orbit to that of satellite along the polar orbit.
After launching a sci-tech satellite, the first practical satellite, on December 12, Juche 101(2012), the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un unfolded a grand plan to put the space development of Korea onto a new high stage in near future.
At the historic Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in March 2013, he advanced a higher goal for conquest of the outer space. He stressed the need to concentrate efforts on the development of space science and technology to develop and launch a great number of various practical satellites including the communication satellite.
Under his deep concern, the decree on adopting the DPRK Law on Space Development and the decision on establishing the National Aerospace Development Administration were adopted at the Seventh Session of the 12th Supreme People’s Assembly in April. Since then, the space development has been legalized as an important work of the country and conducted more vigorously under the unified guidance of the state.
On May 2, Juche 104 (2015), Kim Jong Un visited the newly-built General Satellite Control Centre of the National Aerospace Development Administration and said it is our goal to conquer the outer space and the policy of the Party to actively develop the outer space and use it for peaceful purpose.
True to his noble intention, the space scientists and technicians accelerated the development of the earth observation satellite, exploring the unknown world of space one by one.
One day in January Juche 105 (2016), Kim Jong Un visited the General Satellite Control Centre again to encourage the space developers and said:
“Today I have come here to learn about the preparations for launching an artificial earth satellite. Satellite launch is a very important and responsible work for the destiny of the country and nation.”
A few days later, he called at the Sohae Satellite Launching Site and, feeling the carrier rocket with his hands time and again, said the satellite should be launched with success.
At last on February 7, Juche 105 (2016), the earth observation satellite “Kwangmyongsong-4” was launched into the outer space.
The space scientists and technicians raised stormy cheers, looking up to Kim Jong Un who had come out to the Sohae Satellite Launching Site again.
They said to themselves that the DPRK could proudly rank among the space powers thanks to the great Kim Jong Un.
