Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, inspected Kimhwa, Cholwon and Phyonggang Counties in Kangwon Province hit by flood.
Learning about the situation of the flood-hit areas and their reconstruction plans, he urged officials of the Party and power organs to bear deep in mind the idea of the 16th meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK, fulfill their responsibilities and duties in providing the people with a stable life and giving a complete facelift to the residential areas as desired by the people.
Meeting with people in the township of Kimhwa County, he acquainted himself with their living and took necessary measures after discussing the issues arising in fixing the locations of new residential districts, supplying potable water, and pushing ahead with the anti-land-sliding project.
At the Paekrosan Co-operative Farm in Cholwon County, he underscored the need to put efforts into stabilizing the living of farmers and ensuring healthy growth of flood-afflicted crops.
At Phyonggang County, he called for reexamining the technical condition of railway stations and fully ensuring the transport of materials needed for reconstruction.
