Vegetable Greenhouse Farm Construction Conveys Leaders’ Deep Concern About Locals’ Dietary Life

The construction of the Jungphyong Vegetable Greenhouse Farm is now progressing apace in Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province, DPRK.

Recently Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visited its construction site and stressed the need to introduce advanced techniques and methods of vegetable cultivation to raise the output and activate production so that the locals can immediately benefit from the farm.

As the province is located in the highland and faces the sea, it is generally unfavorable to vegetable cultivation.

President Kim Il Sung once came and noticed flowers blooming out fifteen days later than in the Pyongyang area. Being concerned about the autumn vegetable production in Chongjin City frequently hit by frost earlier, he convened a consultative meeting of agricultural officials.

At the meeting he said that it is very important to supply the locals with vegetables all the year round as the city has many key factories and enterprises. Underscoring the need to increase the vegetable production per hectare by further raising the utilization of vegetable fields and putting the vegetable farming on a scientific and technological basis, he indicated the ways for realizing the two-and triple-cropping of vegetables in the city.

The paternal love of the President for the locals has been carried forward by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Last year, the Supreme Leader visited the province twice in a single month to choose the site for the vegetable greenhouse farm and guide its construction.

After all, a large-scale modern vegetable greenhouse farm is taking its shape, in the place where there was once just a military base.
